Betty's Bath & Day Spa

I love soaking in NM hot springs but sometimes I don’t want to drive out of ABQ. We found Betty’s a couple months ago and were hooked. The service is friendly, welcoming & informative. It is clean and well tended to. You can tell they really care about the atmosphere they provide. They offer soaking, massage therapy and spa treatment. However, we’ve only soaked. They have 2 private salt water tubs that can be reserved by the hour ($60). The one we were in also had a dry sauna and cold rainfall shower. Talk about self-care and serenity. The parking lot was full so I am sure that this hidden gem is a local fave. We cant wait to try some of the treatments they offer.

I wanted to share my experience because I think it’s important for others to know what to expect. I received a notification advising me to arrive at least 15 minutes early to complete paperwork, so I came even earlier to ensure I had plenty of time. However, when I arrived, there was no paperwork to fill out. Since I was early, I asked if I could use the sauna before my 2:00 pm appointment. I was told that everything was fully booked and that access is included within specific timed packages only. That was disappointing. When I think of a “day spa,” I expect more of an experience — a place to unwind before and after services. Many spas offer seating areas, quiet relaxation rooms, tea, light snacks, or open sauna access before your appointment begins. Unfortunately, there was no designated relaxation space, very limited seating, and it felt quite crowded. It felt more like arriving for a single service and leaving immediately afterward, rather than a full spa experience. Additionally, if you purchase a tub package, your allotted time includes sauna access, rather than offering flexible pre-appointment access. That structure makes the experience feel very transactional. In comparison, spas like Ojo, Hotel Chaco, and others in the area provide a more immersive, relaxing environment where you can truly enjoy the space before your treatment begins. If you’re looking strictly for individual services, this may work well for you. But if you’re expecting a full “day spa” experience with amenities and relaxation time, you may want to clarify what’s included ahead of time.

Made a 9:30 hot tub appointment and after arriving on time and shown to the hot tube the attendant could not get the jets to operate and left us to sit in a bath tub while she went to correct the issue. After sitting there for 10 minutes we went inside where we were told it was because of day light savings time although no explanation as to why that would affect the hot tub? When we left she said today’s visit was comped although I don’t know what service was comped seeing as we had none Was finally contacted by an AI generated response to my email that stated mechanical difficulties are beyond their control and we agreed. Communication is within their control. We also received a bill for a 30 minute session with no charge yet our reservation was for 45 minutes? You used to be magical….???What happened?? Updated after owners nonesense: While I appreciate the time it took to reply you have flucuated on the reason for no jets. In your initial response you explained that you couldn’t have foreseen mechanical issues which we agreed and we said you could have communicated which you did not. Also daylight savings jumps forward therefore the later start time on a Sunday should not have been an issue since you were moving forward?! I guess I don’t agree that a jetted tub with no jets in a safe environment is the same, but that’s just me….came for the jets! All I felt you did in your reply was to deflect and accepted no responsibility in your facilities issues but if I hadn’t shown I would have been charged; well we showed and you didn’t therefore according to your policy we should be owed a complimentary 45 minute JETTED hot tub per your policy since you didn’t meet the contract obligations.

I cannot recommend this business. If you are busy and make a mistake on your booking don’t think you can rebook another time. They charge you in full even though you don’t get your service. I booked an appointment or was trying to for a weekend. I selected the day I wanted and apparently it went to a different day which was the following day… I saw 9:30 AM and booked it went through the stuff etc… didn’t even think to look at the date because I thought I had it eight. Little did I know I got the wrong date mistakenly. They told me it’s your fault and you have to pay the full amount. So because their site was confusing and I made a mistake I lost out on $270. I can understand paying a fee but $270 is crazy for a simple mistake. They didn’t perform the service and got free money from me. This is as crooked as it gets and I will never recommend a business that operates this way. I do not recommend these people at all. Terrible business policy and I wouldn’t enjoy their services any longer after knowing they are so hard wired to follow a policy so blindly for a mistake. Find a better business to give your money to and avoid this one.

I really enjoyed my facial and everyone seems really nice. My only complaint would be their locker room/bathroom set up. People are getting undressed and showering and no offense these people need privacy. I don't want to need to use the bathroom and see some random person naked coming out the shower. People apparently enjoy walking around naked with no towel there 🤷‍♀️ Cool for you, but not everyone wants to see that. The floor was wet by where the bathroom stalls are so someone could slip as well. They need another seperate bathroom area. Other than the odd bathroom everything was really nice in there.
