Birmingham Electrolysis and Skin Care

I definitely recommend having electrolysis done here. Zainab has been doing this for 30 years! She is very knowledgeable about skin and unwanted hair. She is also funny and friendly. Services are done in a small, private office inside a large office complex. I had tried a different service provider before finding Birmingham Electrolysis and Skincare. The other provider was a loud self absorbed talker, who never had me roll onto my side so they could really see the hairs on that side— meaning only half of my chin was done well. I’m glad I tried somewhere new. I will continue to use Birmingham Electrolysis and Skincare.

Ms Z is awesome!! She’s very friendly with a great sense of humor!! I will be returning soon!!

For the actual electrolysis treatment, my rating is 3 1/2 stars since she addressed all of the darker, longer more stubborn hairs that concerned me. Also because she was engaging in asking if I wanted her to treat a few of the finer hairs around my lip area. The 1 star is for her lack of bedside manner and utter unpleasant demeanour. I arrived a few minutes early, knocked on the door. No answer so I took the opportunity to head to the ladies room. When I returned to her office door, I knocked and shortly thereafter she opened the door (it was obvious I had woken her up). The first word out of her mouth were: Darla ? (or maybe it was Darlene, I can’t recall). I said “Hello, are you Zainab. I’m Lola. Her response “yes” then she again asks me if I’m Darla.. She proceeds to tell me that Darla her 2 pm appointment didn’t show up and she asks if I have a 1pm appointment” To which I replied “no, I’m not Darla, and my appointment is for 2” ..immediately I noted her rather sour approach but figured she mighty been cranky since I clearly disturbed her sleep (I realize old people need naps). Fast forward, I needed to charge my phone & saw an outlet near the door so when I asked her if I could charge my phone she initially didn’t say anything so I said “I’ll take that as a yes.” She said “I guess so” Just before starting the treatment I asked if she would disinfect her hands in my presence. she obliged (note: I wore my face mask before & after the treatment). Then she grabbed her face shield shows it to me and says “I’m going to wear this if that’s not ok with you, then you can leave.” I was certainly put off by her choice of words and tone, and was gonna walk right out. BUT I reminded myself that I really was in need of an electrolysis session (oh yes, did I mention I arrived to her office after 6 hours on the road- I was visiting Alabama for The Weeknd to visit to the Legacy Museum in Montgomery and the civil rights museums here in Birmingham). The only time she showed a lighthearted moment was after the treatment when I said “merci” 3 times (she had asked where I’m from and I had to explain to her what a Nuyorican is- a person born & raised in NYC whose family heritage is from Puerto Rico). And since she told me she’s from Iran (she said it rather “defiantly” - ok elder lady, I get it you’re proud of it - good for you). My old roommate’s gf is Iranian and I remembered a few years back she mentioned that they use the French world for saying thank you. I was excited about arriving in Alabama for the first time. Unfortunately Z left such a sour taste in my mouth. Still, she won’t ruin the trip for me. Lastly, when I mentioned to her how her demeanor was less than cordial she said she was “startled” when I knocked on the door. I said you could’ve said “hello” “hi”...I said normally when someone greets a customer they say “hello” Her response: “I guess I’m not normal” (she didn’t say this in a joking way) 😳👎🏽😳 No, I didn’t leave a tip! To end on a positive note, she accepts credit cards.

Service was perfect I made a connection right away felt like i knew her for forever ! Thank you so much for all of your amazing advice. i left out of the office with new knowledge that I didnt know I needed

Very kind, good personality, clean work environment :) I'm happy with the results
