Serenity Couture Salon & Spa

This was my first visit to this salon. It was recommended to me by a friend. I didn’t know what to expect. The salon describes itself as a “luxurious and a curated experience”. The stylists are known as artists. My artist, who has the title of a Master Artist “personalized my consultation to finish”. She was friendly to a point but not very personable. Next came the sticker stock! I had no idea the “experience” I received would be at a premium price. I guess I was not only receiving “unparalleled service” but also paying for “award-winning artistry and trend-forward styling”. I didn’t notice that I had received that level of extraordinary luxury. In my opinion, I’m not willing to compensate for the “high-end beauty and wellness experience” they describe or the “prices reflecting the Artist’s experience and artistry” or the fees for the location. I feel I’m able to receive a similar “experience” over the “high-end experience” and premium fees with an another salon. I am able to accomplish it with a salon that “fits my needs and budget” that is over $125+ less. The choice is yours. If you’re willing to pay for the “elite team of styling and spa professionals” and a “luxury salon and spa experience”, checkout Serenity. It’s not for me.

This is the first time I used this salon. I got a gift certificate for Christmas so I thought why not? I looked at the services and their pricing seemed reasonable, but I didn’t want to put my credit card in since I already had a gift certificate. I saw online that they offered walk-in so I called to make sure they still had appointments today, They did so I scheduled an appointment for what I thought was a mini pedicure for $45 because that was the pricing online. (they also offer dry pedicures, new to me) Their new location is a little hard to find if you don’t know where it’s at. You walk in very clean smell smells good, relaxing atmosphere. I also enjoyed the conversation with the person doing my pedicure, very personable! The receptionist didn’t ask and I didn’t clarify so when I went to check out and she told me it was $65 I was a little shocked. Since I’ve never had a pedicure there before I felt like this was similar to the “basic pedicures” at other salons. I paid it. I probably won’t be back as I’ve had better pedicures- There’s still paint on my skin in multiple places, my feet really don’t look any less callused or feel softer…

I’ve been a client of Serenity Couture for nearly a decade and have been seeing Christin the entire time — which really speaks for itself. She’s exceptional at what she does and genuinely one of the kindest people you’ll meet. My haircut is fairly simple, but I’ve seen firsthand the work she does with women’s hair through several close friends who go to her, and she is incredibly talented — precise, consistent, and thoughtful in her approach. You can tell she truly cares about her clients and takes real pride in her craft. She’s also great at consulting with me on the right products, personalized specifically for my hair and skin. Their brand new location in the Atlas Building in West Des Moines is stunning. The space is beautifully designed — elegant, refined, and thoughtfully done while still feeling welcoming and comfortable. It’s conveniently located, easy to access, and truly elevates the entire experience. The team is always professional and welcoming, and the level of service is consistently top tier. I also appreciate that they’ve expanded their services beyond what was offered at the West Glen location — it really feels like a full-service destination now. Another big plus is their use of Aveda products. They’re excellent for sensitive skin, made with naturally derived ingredients, and the brand is known for environmentally responsible practices and more sustainable packaging. I personally purchase both Aveda hair and skincare products from Serenity, and they always have a great selection in stock. Serenity continues to set a high standard for quality, service, and overall experience. Highly recommend.

Highly recommend!! Sought emergency color correction, was seen the same day for a consult and was able to correct the next morning! Phone team was amazing and stylist, Erin, was encouraging and explained the steps in great detail! Before and after pics below!

My comments do NOT have anything to do with Sam. Sam is amazing. When you walk into the salon, you are faced with a round couch with plants on top obstructing a clear view to the check-in desk. This is unnerving. Staff at the front desk need to be much more on top of their game and welcome EVERYONE that comes in, take their coat, and offer them a beverage and a seat. We all know that we have to wait a few minutes for our stylist to wrap up the previous appointment before getting to us. The coat racks near the reception desk are very basic. With the style that is seen in the care of interior design, get better, studier, and less clunky coat racks. There is too much "stuff" on top of the tables behind the wrapped couches. It makes for a very uncomfortable wait. Have all services in a brochure ready to grab when a client arrives. They might be in for a cut, but didn't know the expertise in coloring was available. And list prices up front per stylist. For everything they do. Oh and finally, incorporate a TRIM option, in addition to a CUT. Sometimes, three snips of a pair of scissors does not count as a "CUT."
