Anchorage's Affordable Massage

0 stars is not possible. :) I’m not someone who typically writes negative reviews — I usually only leave positive ones — but I feel this needs to be shared so others don’t go through the same experience. I first contacted Affordable Massage Therapy (Tammy) on December 11 and over the next several weeks had multiple appointments scheduled, confirmed, and then canceled by her. Appointments were changed, rescheduled, or canceled at short notice due to scheduling mistakes, family emergencies, and illness. At one point, she stated she deletes all text messages, which made it difficult to keep any continuity in scheduling. I have all the text messages and if you tell someone that they will get something extra due to the inconvenience then maybe you should keep your text messages so that you do not forget! In total, my appointment was canceled three separate times by the provider, including once just hours before a scheduled session. During this process, her rates also increased significantly compared to when I originally booked. After the last cancellation, I looked more closely at her reviews and noticed a consistent pattern in the one-star reviews describing the same issues — frequent cancellations and lack of reliability. While she does have positive reviews, it seems those experiences depend heavily on actually being able to keep an appointment. If reliability and respect for your time are important to you, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. For what it’s worth, when my appointment was canceled yet again, I was able to book last-minute with Chris at Root Massage, who provided the best massage I’ve had in Anchorage. The difference in professionalism and consistency was night and day.

I went into this massage with no expectations. It had just been a long time and I wanted to treat myself. Tammy was not only easy to book with, but she got me in right away. She was so thorough both in communication prior to, and the massage itself. I didn't know I actually was holding so much tension until I walked out of there feeling like a noodle. The whole massage was great pressure yet relaxing which is exactly what I asked for. I can't wait to book again. Thank you Tammy Joe!

I had a 90 minute deep tissue massage from Tammy Joe, and she will be my new masseuse. I’ve been looking for someone to stick with for years - and she has an amazing blend of addressing pain and providing sports massage, but also creating an environment that feels like you’re just there for a relaxation massage. She’s very professional and yet personable. Such a wonderful experience!!!

I made an appointment with Anchorage Affordable Massage three months ago after reading some of reviews. I went there with a stiff neck, tight shoulders, and a sore back. I requested a deep tissue massage. Tammy Joe constantly communicated during the massage on the amount of pressure that was needed to work out all my muscle issues. She worked each area of concern until she was satisfied with the results. I felt incredibly good when I left there. I just left there a few hours ago, this being my third appointment. Each session has been as good as the one before. Tammy Joe is the best massage therapist I have ever been to. I highly recommended Tammy Joe if you are considering a massage!

I called Tammy because of her high reviews, and let me tell you she is worth all the great reviews. She was able to tell where my pain was just my looking at me. She gave me the option for the amount of pressure applied, no one has ever done that. I didn’t realize all my stress was from the pain in my body until she was done. P.s. I never make follow up appointments, but with her I did. ❤️
