I had a wonderful experience with Danielle Johnson, PA-C at Virginia Dermatology. Scheduling an appointment through the patient portal was very easy and was able to be seen within a few weeks. I was pleasantly surprised when the office even called to offer me an earlier appointment. When I arrived, check-in was quick and I had hardly any wait time. I only waited a few minutes before Danielle came into the room. She quickly diagnosed the spot on my forearm that had been bothering and concerning me, and she also took the time to look at a few other areas I was worried about. What impressed me most was that she was able to remove the spot right then and there during the same visit, which I truly appreciated. Danielle was compassionate, friendly, and has an excellent bedside manner. She made me feel comfortable throughout the entire appointment and provided very clear aftercare instructions before I left. I highly recommend Danielle Johnson, PA-C to anyone looking for knowledgeable, efficient, and genuinely caring dermatology care.

I had an appointment with Cynthia Ferguson, MHS, PA-C and her assistant. Their bedside manners were horrible. To start, as a Black woman myself the last thing I expected was a racial comment, “Yall Black women always….” It was very unprofessional. They did not listen to my initial request and immediately made an assumption. I had to correct them. I was met with negativity as if I was causing them an inconvenience with my presence. I was the first appointment of the day. I deserved to have been treated with respect and kindness just like any paying patient/customer.

Conversation with a doctor is 5 minutes long. The doctor did not address any of the acne concerns, just went over my skin care routine and prescribed me antibiotic cream. No blood work, no talks about the cause of acne, just an antibiotic. When it comes to my initial problem, the lipoma that I have over my eyebrow, the doctor suggested that it “might” be just under skin acne and we will use a cream even tho I said it has been there from 6-12 months. Nothing good out of this appointment apart from a referral to see a surgeon.

Please do your homework on this practice! I was scheduled for an in network squamous cell procedure. I asked numerous times in regards to acceptance of my insurance. I traveled from NC to Virginia not once but twice because Danielle did not go deep enough for the biopsy. I was called in for another biopsy by her father, Dr. Johnson. My husband and I both missed 2 days of work, expense of gas, tolls, travel and a huge inconvenience. Come to find out by the plastic surgeon (not Virginia Dermatology), the day before the removal of the cancer, they do and did not accept my insurance. I then had to find another surgeon to remove the cancer. Now no one will respond to my many emails in regards to the unexpected medical expenses that incurred because of their negligence. I think I have been treated very unfairly and should not be charged at all, especially twice because Danielle did not do it right the first time! Come to find out from my insurance company Danielle’s credentials were listed as an OBGYN! WHAT REALLY! Facts!! No empathy or consideration of help with their billing when protocol is to confirm insurance as soon as a patient calls for an appointment! Extremely frustrated about the entire process! Communication is very poor through phone calls, emails and the portal. The picture is the first visit for the biopsy. I did not even bleed because Danielle removed a piece of the scab. I even asked her if she was sure she went deep enough. I’ve had this procedure before and knew she did not so I was not at all surprised I received a call for a second biopsy. I do not recommend this practice at all. I’ve asked for leniency on the billing because they informed me I was in network, to date no response whatsoever. I ended up finding another practice to remove the cancer in a days notice. Find yourself another facility that knows what they are doing. I was even on a waitlist for 3 months. It has been a nightmare!

This visit was very easy to schedule. They had an early opening for me to get in quickly. The dermatologist was very nice and was concerned about a spot on my head, they took a biopsy of it to have it checked for cancer.
