Gentle strength is how I’d describe Sonja’s work. She works slow and methodical and often checks in to see how the pressure is. I’ve come to realize that a good massage therapist can help realign my neck and spine. So basically a good therapist can have dual purpose, and that’s what Sonja does. The last sesh I came in with the tightest neck. It hurt when I turned to the right. By the end of the session, my neck completely opened up, and the pain disappeared. Thank you so much, Sonja, for your immense skill and care.

I had my first massage with Sonja last week and I wanted to add a review for two reasons. 1. The massage itself was GLORIOUS!!! It was different from Deep Tissue in the best ways. There was lots of deep and targeted pressure, but nothing felt like it was digging into my muscles. I could feel blood flowing more freely in real time. It was incredible. 2. The days following have been the real test for me. I felt a slight bit of tenderness in my shoulders the next day, but nothing painful like many deep tissue massages I’ve had in the past. I took a highly concentrated Epsom salt bath the next day and my shoulders have been fine ever since. But what has persisted are the feelings of openness, relaxation and blood flow in my muscles and joints. My knees are popping less, my upper back is moving freely and there’s no pressure in my lower back. My glutes feel less tension, my jaw is locking less…. Basically, I love a good massage as much as the next gal. But the true test for me is how I feel in the days following. And I can tell you right now, this was money very very well spent. I’ll be going back to her next time I get a massage, no question.

Sonja is incredible! I spent a month shooting a film in Portland and Sonja was instrumental in keeping me fresh throughout the process. The first massage was so good, I decided to go back each week to work out all of my back and shoulder pain. I just had my first massage from Sonja at Return to Flow. I had been experiencing deep tightness in my upper back and shoulders and thought this would help. I was right! Before even working on me, Sonja took time to assess my body and where I was ailing. This was the first time a masseuse had me test my range of motion before starting. Usually you tell them what the problem areas are and that’s it for the whole session. I also appreciated that Sonja at a few different and well timed points during the massage asked how I was doing and how the problem area was feeling. It may not seem like much but those gestures go a long way in creating a positive, healing space. Another nice touch was how she ended the session with essential oils. Allowing you to breathe in and take your time enjoying almost like a Savasana. So with that, thank you Sonja for doing what you do. I will certainly be back!

Sonja is a healer. She managed to stretch out my shoulders that have been a source if pain for years. She is strong, and skilled in her craft. Her unique fusion of various massage and accupressure techniques resulted in real relief. The atmosphere is very relaxing. Good lighting. Comfortable table and linens. And great music. I will definitely be scheduling another appointment soon.
