This was my first appointment at Oakland Aesthetic Dentistry, and I was very pleased and impressed with the practice. As I made the appointment, the office staff worked hard to get me an appointment in a timely way, which was very impressive. My cleaning was exceptionally thorough, and the hygienist offered helpful feedback as she cleaned my teeth. She also took many x-rays to get a baseline of my oral health. By the time the Dr. Sacks came in to see me, he had reviewed my x-rays and had a good understanding of my teeth. He examined my teeth, proclaimed me to be well, and was on his way to the next patient. One of the things I appreciate about the practice is that they don't suggest unnecessary treatments as I have heard many other practices do. After searching for a new dentist for several months, I am very happy that I landed at Oakland Aesthetic Dentistry. Couldn't be happier after my first appointment!

Dr. Sack was understanding about my anxiety of going to the dentist. He kept asking if I was ok, and also completed my dental work in a jiffy. He transformed my front tooth that was cracked and discolored into a beautiful piece of artwork! Additionally, the front end staff is extremely competent at dealing with my insurance that made my out-of-pocket expense very affordable! Everyone there is friendly and capable. Kudos

Disappointing Experience – Rushed Visit and Poor Communication I traveled from Morgantown for evaluation of a complicated bite issue following a root canal and crown. Before the appointment, I sent a detailed summary of my history and X-rays so the doctor could review my case in advance. Unfortunately, the visit felt rushed. My endodontic report had not been reviewed, and no comprehensive occlusal (bite) analysis was performed despite my ongoing symptoms. The most frustrating part was the referral process. The doctor recommended I see a prosthodontist, but when I asked the office to send the referral, I encountered repeated resistance and conflicting explanations from staff. It took multiple emails and follow-ups just to complete a basic referral that should have been straightforward. The staff member who communicated with me was very rude. For patients dealing with chronic dental pain, careful listening and clear coordination matter. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here.

I paid $100 and took time off work for what amounted to a 2-minute consultation that felt dismissive, rushed, and frankly uninformed. I came in specifically for an adult tongue-tie evaluation and tried to discuss well-documented functional concerns such as voice strain, snoring/airway issues, swallowing difficulty (including pills), and the role of oral restrictions in overall tension patterns. The provider appeared confused by these topics and offered no meaningful assessment or explanation. There was no thorough exam, no structured discussion of my anatomy, and no clear clinical reasoning. I was essentially told “I don’t know if it would help” and redirected to myofunctional therapy… without any guidance, timeline, or coordination, and without demonstrating basic familiarity with the reasons adults seek this procedure in the first place. If this office primarily handles pediatric or cosmetic cases, that should be made clear. Advertising frenectomies without the ability to competently evaluate adult functional concerns is misleading. I left feeling dismissed, unheard, and like my time and money were wasted. I would not trust this practice for adult tongue- or lip-tie care. Edit: The office refunded my consultation fee after this review was posted, which I appreciate. The substance of my experience and concerns about adult functional evaluation remain unchanged.

I have been going to this office for more than 10 years and Dr. Rose and Dr. Sack do first class work and have a great bedside manner. Never had a Hygienists that wasn't gentle and friendly. Office staff is just a nice.
